Project Summary

Project Summary

Conflict, severe economic regression and the collapse of basic public services have led to the deterioration of education sector. UNICEF stated that more than 6 million children in Yemen are at risk of being deprived of education. Furthermore, UNESCO report on Education for All issued in 2017, stated that only 2% of pupils at the poorest segment in Yemen continued their education after secondary school, and the illiteracy rate in the country reached 34%, while increased among females to 74%, which reflects a huge gender disparity in educational opportunities. The general conditions of schools in Yemen indicate the need to support the government sector in equipping the educational environment with textbooks and school supplies such as laboratory substances, teaching aids, educational materials, maintenance of school buildings and rehabilitation of school furniture. Therefore, this project comes to rehabilitate the school's educational environment and support students with the aim of enhancing students' opportunities to obtain appropriate education in light of the difficult conditions that Yemen is currently enduring.
